Does Insurance Cover Doula Care?
Using Your Carrot Fertility Benefits with Beyond Birthing Associates
At Beyond Birthing Associates, we’re proud to support families using their Carrot Fertility Benefits to access doula care. As more companies expand their reproductive and postpartum health coverage, we’re seeing an exciting rise in clients whose doula services are fully or partially covered through Carrot.
Whether you're seeking birth support, postpartum care, or both—our team meets Carrot’s approval standards and is ready to support you through every step of your journey.
What Is Carrot Fertility?
Carrot Fertility is a health benefit offered by many employers across the U.S. It provides comprehensive support for reproductive health—including fertility treatments, egg freezing, IVF, pregnancy care, childbirth education, and birth and postpartum doula services. Depending on your employer’s plan, you may be eligible for partial or full coverage of doula services at no cost to you.
Does Carrot Really Cover Doula Services?
Yes! Carrot recognizes the valuable impact doulas have on birth outcomes and the postpartum experience. Coverage may include:
Prenatal visits
Birth planning and education
Continuous labor support
In-home postpartum care (daytime and overnight)
Feeding and newborn support
Emotional recovery and healing support
Each employer’s Carrot plan varies, so it’s always a good idea to check your specific benefits directly.
Are Beyond Birthing Doulas Carrot-Eligible?
Absolutely. All Beyond Birthing Associates doulas who offer Carrot-covered services meet the required qualifications, including:
Certification from approved organizations like DONA International, ICEA, CAPPA, ToLabor, or BirthWorks
Comprehensive training (minimum 24 hours) in labor, postpartum, or bereavement support
Proven experience with at least three families in birth, postpartum, or bereavement support
Continuing education and up-to-date credentials
We’re experienced in navigating Carrot’s systems and have worked with many families using this benefit.
How to Use Your Carrot Benefits for Doula Services
Depending on your employer’s setup, Carrot plans typically reimburse families in one of two ways:
Reimbursement – You pay upfront and submit a “superbill” (detailed invoice) to Carrot for reimbursement.
Carrot Card – You receive a benefits card (similar to an HSA/FSA card) that you can use to pay us directly.
To get started, simply check your Carrot member portal or ask your HR team for benefit details.
